Travel Advisory – Summitlaya Adventure

At Summitlaya Adventure, your safety, comfort, and unforgettable experience are our top priorities. Trekking in Nepal offers breathtaking beauty, but it also involves high-altitude conditions, changing weather, and remote environments. Please read the following travel advisory carefully before your journey.

High Altitude & Acclimatization

Many of our treks such as the Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, and Langtang Valley reach high elevations above 3,000m.

  • Altitude sickness (AMS) can affect anyone regardless of fitness level
  • Slow ascent and proper acclimatization days are essential
  • Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol during trekking
  • Inform your guide immediately if you feel unwell (headache, nausea, dizziness)

Weather Conditions

Mountain weather in Nepal is unpredictable and can change rapidly.

  • Best trekking seasons: Spring (March–May) and Autumn (Sept–Nov)
  • Winter trekking is possible but very cold at high altitude
  • Monsoon season (June–August) may cause rain, landslides, and flight delays
  • Always carry warm layers and waterproof clothing

Flights & Transportation

Flights to mountain regions can be affected by weather conditions.

  • Flights to Lukla Airport may be delayed or rescheduled due to fog or wind
  • Alternative route via Manthali Airport may be used during peak seasons
  • We recommend keeping at least 1–2 buffer days in your travel plan
  • Road conditions in rural areas can be rough and time-consuming

 Permits & Documentation

All trekkers must carry valid permits depending on the region:

  • TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
  • National Park or Conservation Area Permits
  • Passport copy and valid visa for Nepal

Summitlaya will assist in arranging all required permits.

Physical Fitness & Preparation

Trekking in Nepal involves long walking hours on uneven terrain.

  • Moderate fitness is required for most treks
  • We recommend light training before arrival (walking, cardio, hiking)
  • Carry only essential items to reduce backpack weight

Health & Safety

  • Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking and helicopter evacuation is strongly

recommended

  • Basic medical facilities are available in some trekking regions, but limited
  • Our guides are trained in first aid and altitude awareness

Important Notes

  • Respect local culture, traditions, and environment
  • Avoid single-use plastics where possible
  • Follow guide instructions at all times
  • Be prepared for simple accommodation in remote areas
