Main Flight Conditions
1. Weather is the biggest factor
Flights operate only when:
- Clear visibility in both Kathmandu and Lukla
- No heavy fog, rain, or snowfall
- Safe wind conditions in the mountains
Even if Kathmandu is clear, flights can still be cancelled if Lukla weather is bad.
2. Morning flights only
- Flights usually operate early morning (6 AM – 10 AM)
- Afternoon flights are often cancelled due to cloud build-up and wind changes No night flights (no runway lights)
